- 동아시아 이주여성 서사 비교연구 ― 양이의 『왕짱』과 허련순의 『중국색시』 -
본고에서는 작가들의 민족적 당사자성이 바탕이 된 양이의 『왕짱』과 허련순 의 『중국색시』 속 이주여성의 형상과 그녀들의 삶을 텍스트에 구현하는 방식에 주목하여 양 작에 공통하는 문제의 소재와 유의미한 차이에 대해 비교 분석해 보았다. 이 두 작품은 중국 사회의 변화 속에 국제결혼을 희망하는 여성들이 급증한 시대를 배경으로 하고 있다. 작중 여주인공들의 국제결혼은 물질적 측면에서의 생활수준의 향상이나 남다른 이상을 좇아서가 아닌 운명의 굴레로부터 벗어나 기 위한 도피 수단으로 선택된다. 하지만 그럼으로써 이들의 성급한 결혼생활은 결코 원만하게 나아가지 못한다. 현지에서의 연정 관계는 이에 대한 반작용으로 나타나는 것으로 이들의 간망과 결핍의 지점을 드러낸다고 하겠다. 또한 주인공 과 남편의 관계에서 갈등이 일어나는 양상과 표출 방식에 있어 눈에 띄는 차이 가 발견된다. 남편과 다툼을 반복하다 극적으로 상처가 봉합되며 행복한 결말을 암시하는 허련순의 소설과 서사의 표층에서 갈등이 분출되기보다는 억누르고 있는 내면의 심리 묘사에 초점을 맞춘 양이의 소설은 각각의 서사 공간의 문화 적 특성이 영향을 준 것으로 보인다. 향후 문화적·언어적으로 더욱 다양한 문학 텍스트에 구현된 이주여성의 형상 과 실존의 문제를 탐구해 봄으로써 오늘날의 사회문화적 현상과 디아스포라적 타자에 대한 인문학적 이해를 더해가고자 한다.
A Comparative Study on Narratives of East Asian Immigrant Women ― Based on Yang-yi’s Wan-chan and Heo Ryeon-soon’s Chinese Braid
In this paper, a comparative analysis is conducted on the portrayal and life of immigrant women in Yang-yi’s Wan-chan and Heo Ryeon-soon’s Chinese braid, both based on the ethnic identity of the authors. These works are set against the backdrop of an era in which the number of women seeking international marriages increased due to rapid social changes in China. In these stories, the protagonists choose international marriage not for material improvement or extraordinary ideals, but as an escape from the fate they are bound to. However, their hasty marital life does not progress smoothly. The emotional relationships in the local context are reactions to this, revealing their points of desire and deficiency. Additionally, notable differences are found in the portrayal and method of conflicts between the protagonists and their husbands. Heo’s novel, with conflicts leading to dramatic healing and a happy ending, and Yang’s novel, focusing on the internal psychological portrayal rather than overt conflicts, reflect the cultural characteristics of each narrative space. This study aims to enhance the understanding of today’s socio-cultural phenomena and the humanistic perspective on the diasporic ‘other’ by exploring the portrayal and existence of immigrant women in literature texts from various backgrounds.
